Chairman, Dept. of Islamic Studies
The People’s University of Bangladesh is government- approved University. Which provides job-oriented education. Moreover as a higher seat of learning. The People’s University of Bangladesh tries to promote and inculcate ethical values and Social norms. With this end in view it proposes to introduce Islamic Studies under the Faculty of Arts of The People’s University of Bangladesh.
Islamic Studies Department is dedicated to helping students fulfil their potential and to promoting academic knowledge based on authentic original Islamic sources. We aim to disseminate Islamic knowledge in an environment that accords with Islamic values and thus tries to emulate Islamic norms and values in which that knowledge matured, was nurtured, and developed. Department provides the best opportunity for students who want a deeper understanding of Islam, its philosophy, and its law in its right context and perspective.
The main objectives of the BA (HONOS) in Islamic Studies is to present Islam as a complete code of life based on revealed knowledge of Quran and Sunnah. In this view, we aim to provide more than just an academic understanding of Islam, as it’s taught in most university today. We want to present an ‘insider’s view’ of Islam and allow students to understand it as a living, breathing way of life, as well as a system of belief. This means they will not only study academic theories about Islam, but they will become acquainted with scholarly debates going on within Islam and what these mean for Islam’s future. In this way we bring together education and spirituality the classical and Modern, the academic and practical in life.
The objective of the BA (Hons.) in Islamic Studies is to present Islam as a complete code of life based on revealed knowledge of al-Quran and as-Sunnah. So, the curriculum is designed to enable students to have a comprehensive view on development of human life according to the teaching and practical guidance of al-Quran and as-Sunnah. Accordingly, a new dimension of Islamic Economics and Administration has also been emphasized.
